SMART Grant
The U.S. Department of Education recently announced this new federal
grant for Pell Grant eligible students for their third and fourth years of college.
Eligible students must be eligible for the Pell Grant, be a U.S. citizen, and
attend full-time. If you were awarded this grant it is listed as an estimated
award. Final determination of eligibility will be made once the U.S. Department
of Education finalizes the details of this new grant. The following information
is available at this time:
- Up to $4,000 will be awarded to eligible students.
- Students must be enrolled in a four-year degree-granting institution of
higher education.
- Students will be eligible if they are pursuing a major in mathematics, science
(including physical, life, and computer sciences), technology, engineering,
or a critical foreign language. A list of these EKU majors is available online

- Students must have at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA in college.
